Kiva - loans that change lives
A loner and a loaner, yep that’s me.. well not so alone but I suppose but that’s for another post!

Those of you that know me, know that though I’m a charitable sorta guy I’m very cynical and really have little trust in many charitable organizations. Well, when I stumbled upon www.Kiva.org that all changed. Here’s an organization that helps finance the unbankable entrepreneurs of developing and poverty stricken nations. They’re not looking for hand-outs, just someone to take a chance on them to help finance their dreams. Everyone is expected to repay the loan (over 95% repayment rate) and we’re not talking millions. Most loans are for typically less then $2000.

Now before the greedy half of my readers get all excited, there is no profit. Though the loans are non interest free, the money is used to finance the transaction and help with some overhead. But it sure as heck makes you feel good. I’ve just started myself but sure plan on expanding my my portfolio.
